Hmm, well that's a situation that would call for diplomacy. Perhaps explain that it'd be somewhat suspicious if you removed the boy from prison under King's authority, since you were the one who put him there in the first place.
I'd make a counteroffer and ask him to entrust me a task for completion, as a sign of good faith. If nothing else, Speardrake might have used that as a way to reveal the less-than-legal mystery that seems to surround the town.
Anyway, love the "stern glance" moment that Speardrake shares with the guard captain. Also hurray for detailed backgrounds!
