Don't get all the hate for the hammerhead, performed WAY better and manuvered far better than the Mako, might not have been able to take as much damage but it could also dish out tons more to make up for it, overall it's a 100% IMPORVMENT.
When it was announced, I imagined for some reason that Hammerhead will be able to fly above the clouds or something. Needless to say, my hopes were brutally crushed by the harsh reality. I hated Hammerhead and tried to forget about it as soon as I killed all the geth and finished the damn DLC.
Ha ha, so true. I actually preferred the mako. That thing actually felt more like a tank. A tank with a sniper zoom for it's cannon, kinetic barriers, jump-jets, and can drive up walls! The problem wasn't the Mako it was the level design. Sure there was the odd thresher-maw problem, but after a while you can predict when one is going to appear because of the large flat patch of land around you. Do you really think the Hammerhead would stand a chance against a thresher-maw? Speaking of the Hammerhead, the vehicle is rubbish in a fight. However it feels better because the levels were better designed to make the most of it's abilities, namely, it's speed, vaguely-tracking rockets, and high power thrusters. They both have merit, but down more to personal preference and design philosophies. A good vehicle in a bad situation and vice versa can make a quite difference. Don't hate the car, hate the designers.
Agreed. My strategy with the Hammerhead in combat is to stay as far away as possible from the enemy, shoot, retreat when the siren-type things are sounding, then repeat once the Hammerhead is back at what I think is full health.
With the Mako, I find a nearby mountain and snipe with the main gun... Or just run them over for a laugh. Plus, the Mako doesn't freeze solid after a couple of minutes in the cold. Though at the same time,if your quick you can jump out of lava before it melts you in the Hammerhead. The Mako, not so much.
Oh those birds... such a destructive force. Tbh I prefered hammerhead to mako... I guess mostly due to the fact that in ME2 you didn't use it a lot and there were no thresher maws spawning randomly under you (instant death :<)... Had to press F5 as much as I could, in case thresher was nearby lol.
To be fair, landing in lava/acid would bust up most vehicles pretty quickly, and I didn't notice it being that bad in a fight with the geth forces given that it was maneuverable enough to get out of the way of their attacks.
Hell, I'd have been happy with it if it weren't for the BS platforming they made you do with it, and it's marginally better than the third game's complete lack of vehicles...
That superlaser/energy-field base approach in Overlord was BS though.
Plus they lampooned it and the Mako in the third game for both their faults, that wins Bioware back some points with regards to vehicle sections with me.
Thresher Maw acid strips straight through shields... but even the Mako could take a couple of hits of that before exploding. Okay yeah, it didn't do so well with lava either but seriously... any more then one direct hit and the hammerhead goes up in flames! A geth trooper could take down the hammerhead. And if you try to run bad guys over like you can with the Mako, you go from full health to instant sirens and flames.
Still, awesome comic. Made me laugh harder because it really isnt far from the truth.
